What is Trevellas Cove Mermaid Pool?
A large, deep rock pool tucked out of sight, below the cliffs at Trevellas Cove. This pool is exposed by the falling tide and is only safely accessible on calm days.

History of the Sea Pool at Trevellas Cove
We have not been able to find any records of this pool, but some old steps cut into the rock from the cliff above and the depth and smooth shape of the rockpool suggest, like the Miners pools in Penwith, this pool could also have had a little helping hand in its creation
.

How do you get to the Pool at Trevellas Cove?
The pool is below the headland on the north side of Trevellas Cove, it’s tucked tight against the cliff. Whilst there is a track out to the headland and some old steps cut into the rock that lead to the pool, recent rockfalls make this route extremely dangerous, (although not impossible and still popular with local teenagers who come to the headland for illicit parties, tombstoning and fishing off the rocks).
Park For Free

A much safer way to reach the pool is to either swim from the beach at Trevellas Porth at mid tide or walk along the rocks to the base of the cliff at low tide. Either way, this should only be attempted on calm flat days and you may still need to wade or swim the last 50 yards or so to reach the pool.

When is the best time to go to the mermaid pool at Trevellas?
The pool is accessible for three to four hours on either side of low tide. It retains water well so the water level should be high whenever you go. The lower the tide the easier it is to reach on foot.
Beware, the car park at Trevellas Porth is small and extremely steep & bumpy to access so avoid busy summer days if you can or get there early.

Is the mermaid pool at Trevellas Cove dog friendly?
