Overview of Perranporth Beach
Also known as Perran Beach, it’s got to be Cornwall’s most famous beach, the one everyone remembers from childhood family holidays and a world-renowned surf destination, boasting stunning sunsets and the UK’s only “Pub on a Beach”.

The beach is also home to Chapel Rock a historic miners’ tidal swimming pool, a pub, Tunes in The Dunes music festival, impressive sand dunes and even a golf course.
When the tide is low the beach at Perranporth stretches almost 3 miles from Droskyn Point across Penhale Sands to Ligger Point.

Families with young children will love being able to park very close to the beach and relax on the sand nearby toilets, cafes and shops.

Younger children will enjoy playing in the river that runs across the beach or learning to swim in Chapel Rock’s tidal pool. Older children, teenagers and adults alike can learn to surf or bodyboard in the designated surf zones patrolled by RNLI Lifeguards.

For the more adventurous Perranporth attracts paragliders, kite surfers, horse riders, paragliders and even the occasional parachutist (taking off from the nearby airfield on the cliffs above the beach).

Food & Drink At Perranporth Beach
The beach is home to the Watering Hole, which claims to be the UK’s only “Pub on a Beach” a huge pub with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, there’s also a snack van and 2 other eateries, Alcatraz and The Summerhouse just next to the beach.
The small town of Perranporth is a short walk from the beach with a good selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes, pasty shops and takeaways.

Lifeguard Cover At Perranporth Beach
The main beach at Perranporth has lifeguard cover from Easter until late October.
Perran Sands has RNLI Lifeguards from mid-May until late September.
Lifeguard’s are on patrol from 10.00am – 6.00pm each day.

Dogs on Perranporth Beach
Dogs are permitted on the beach at Perranporth all year around. During July and August, dogs must be on a lead between 10am and 5pm on the main beach area but can be left off their leads on the rest of the beach.

Disabled Access At Perranporth Beach
Good wheelchair access to the beach along with disabled toilets close by.
Perranporth Beach also has mobility sand chairs for hire provided by Cornwall Mobility in partnership with Disability Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
