Why You’ll Love Gwynver Beach
Not far from Land’s End, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty down in the “Wild West” of Cornwall, Gwynver beach (also known as Gwenver) is a surprisingly well-kept secret, particularly given how crowded it can get at the neighbouring Sennen beach.
Unlike Sennen, with its large car parks, cafes and cool cafes & bars, Gwenver has no bells and whistles to draw the crowds, and in our opinion, that’s what makes it one of Cornwall’s best beaches.
Gywnver is a secluded private beach accessed by long steep steps down from the small clifftop car park, attracting a local crowd (and visitors in the know) who appreciate the natural beauty, solitude, spectacular views, white sand and excellent surf on offer.

How do you get to Gwynver Beach?
From Penzance head down the A30 towards Land’s End, just before you reach Sennen village go past Trevedra Farm Caravan & Camping Site and take the next right to the car park (Postcode: TR19 7BB).
The car park is privately run (cash) £2.50 for 4hrs or £4 all day (Aug 2022). Large vans are not permitted and the car park closes at sunset. No overnight parking for campervans

Can you swim at Gwynver Beach?
Whilst the beach is lifeguarded, the swell and surf is make this beach more suited to bodyboarding or surfing than swimming and there can be a dangerous rip current. Having said that, pick a calm flat day, and it’s unilkely you’ll find many more beautiful spots for a leisurely salt water dip with the chance to spot the occasional dolphin or basking shark in summer.

There are no food or drink outlets at Gwynver, so you’ll need to bring your picnic or beach bbq with you, just as long as you’re prepared to carry it back up the hill afterwards! At very low tide you can walk across the beach to Sennen where there are a few cafes, bars and pubs.

Small children will love the golden sands, but parents are not going to enjoy the steep, long carry up and down from the car park, nor the lack of amenities. So the beach next door at Sennen may be a better option.
