Treyarnon Bay lies on Cornwall’s North Coast between Padstow and Newquay and is a popular location with holidaymakers. The sandy beach and Atlantic swell, make it a favourite for surfers, and bodyboarders. But the hidden tidal pool just along the coast path is a great spot for paddling and wild swimming, even in the winter months.
The pool is freshly filled with seawater with each rising tide. As the tide ebbs and flows, the beach backdrop changes size and shape, providing a constantly changing and exhilarating wild swimming experience.

The pool is up to 8′ deep in places so keep an eye on the kids but they’ll have a great time splashing around in the water especially when it’s a bit too rough in the sea.

When is the best time to visit Teyarnon Sea Pool?
The pool is above water for a few hours either side of low tide so check the tide times before your come.
The pool is pretty busy in the summer months, and school holidays in particular but there are plenty of year-round swimmers here too so you are never guaranteed to have it to yourself. Early morning swims are a great way to start the day when the tide is right and the sunset in Treyaron can be spectacular so don’t miss the chance of an evening swim in the summer.
Is Treyarnon Sea Pool Dog Friendly?
Yes, there are no restrictions on dogs on the beach at Treyarnon all year round and the pool is easy to access so bring your salty sea dogs along for a saltwater dip too.
