History of Chapel Pool
Generations of Cornish locals have learned to swim at this small tidal pool, on the outskirts of Polperro in South East Cornwall, since it was first built in the 1940’s. The pool is accessible for a few hours on either side of the low tide and is completely submerged at high water.

How Do You Get To Chapel Pool?
The nearest parking is in the main Polperro village public car park just off the A387. This is a private, cash-only car park. and the only place to park in Polperro so it can be extremely busy in peak season.
As an alternative, consider coming on one of the glass-bottomed boat trips that run from Looe during the summer months and will give you 2 hours to explore Polperro.
The pool itself can be found just off the Southwest coast path to the South West of the harbour – walk through the village and take the steps beside the Blue Peter Pub, follow the path for a couple of minutes and the pool will be on your left-hand side.

When is the best time to visit Chapel Pool?
The best time to swim at Chapel Pool is a couple of hours either side of low tide, so check the tide times beforehand. The pool is on on exposed south-facing stretch of the coast so avoid days when there is a strong onshore wind and large waves.
It can get very busy by the pool in Summer so consider going out of season for a bracing swim on a calm day. These photos were taken on our New Year’s day swim!
